Shortcut Keys

Here are some basic shortcut keys that you should know if your going into a field that involves computers.

Shortcut Keys What They Do
ctrl+a
Selects all content in view, whether it be text on a web page or multiple folders.
ctrl+c
Copies the text that you highlight with the ctrl+a shortcut or if you highlight it with your mouse.
ctrl+x
p align="left">Cuts the text that is highlighted by either the shortcut key or your mouse.
ctrl+v
Lets you paste any selected text that is copyed or cut.
ctrl+z
Lets you undo something that you have done such as copy, paste, or cut.
ctrl+b

Bolds selected text in a word document.
ctrl+i

Italisizes text in a word document.
ctrl+u

Underlines selected text in the word document.
ctrl+shift+esc

Opens up your task manager.
ctrl+t
Creates a new tab in Internet Explorer 7.
alt+F4
Lets you close or exit a window that you are currently visiting.
alt+ENTER
Displays the properties of the selected object such as a folder in My Documents and programs on the Desktop.
alt+spacebar
Open the shortcut menu for the active window.
alt+Tab
Lets you select Internet Explorer windows that are minimized in the task bar, or maximized.
alt+ctrl+any arrow key
Flips the screen either left, right, upside down or right side up.

F5 (in a "Word" document)
Inserts the date, time and year of today.
F5 (in web browsers)
Lets you refresh your current page.
F11
This button alone will change the screen resolution to full screen and you hit it again to return it back to normal.
F2
Renames the selected document, folder, etc.
