The Fayette County Area Vocational Technical School Student Council is an organization and forum in which the students of the Vo-Tech can implement change. In this organization the students take an active leadership role in the governing of the school. Student Council does so by voting on the issue, then if it is passed by the student council, it is brought to the attention of the school board. Student Council officers are elected by the student body. The five offices of the student council are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian. Each shop is represented by a student from that shop. This student representative is responsible for informing the other students in the shop of any new issues. The Fayette County Area Vocational Technical School Student Council is responsible for many things that go on around the school. The student council sponsors school dances, a car show, sundae and nacho sales and many other activities. Student council has organized an intramural volleyball league that will start after the Easter break. The teams will be comprised of students from each shop. Prizes will be awarded for the participants. Student Council has also implemented shop shirts, and promotes school pride. The members also participated in a Thanksgiving food drive, and a Christmas toy drive for the less fortunate. |
